匈牙利科学院同位素研究所成立于1959年，于1964年开始生产放射性同位素。它成为匈牙利放射性同位素研究，开发和生产的主要中心。自1993年起，前研究所的一部分一直作为同位素研究所（IZOTOP）运作。
